The Great Commission

There has been much debate over the events that recently occurred in Japan. This was by far the worst tsunami that has affected any country. The threat of a nuclear disaster could affect many people in Asia. This is alarming to many Christians and again instills a sense of fear in many people, even Christians, who do not understand what this means.

There is nothing to fear, if you are in Christ Jesus and you have a relationship with God. When we became saved, we accepted Jesus Christ in our hearts. This meant that we were saved from the wrath of God. All of our sins were wiped away and we were forgiven. By God’s grace, we do not have to carry around our guilt or feel condemned, because there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus.

For the person who has not accepted Christ into their heart, he/she cannot be pardoned because they do not ask God for forgiveness. They may be warned of danger, but they do not heed it. They are unable to discern the voice of God. If God desires that the unsaved sinner be saved, then he will bring that sinner down to the lowest point in his/her life in order to get their attention.

Sometimes it can be something as devastating as a tsunami or an earthquake. The fact of the matter is that God warned them about their behavior, but they did not listen. They continued to do what they wanted instead of being obedient to the Lord. Does this sound familiar? If you are a saved Christian, it should. This is how I came to the Lord. My life was such a mess. I could not find a solution to our problems which were insurmountable. Then the Lord sent someone to us to tell me the good news of the Gospel. I repented of my sinful behavior and God rescued me from my sins.

Here is a refresher on salvation:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
“For the wages of sin is death and the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
….”for whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Acts 2:21)
“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2: 38)
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven , and things in earth, and things under the earth; and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10, 11)
“Lie not to one another seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds: And have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.” (Colossians 3:9,10)
…being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” (Romans 5:9)

If you have never accepted Christ into your heart, you can do so right now, if you will go to the Prospering Christians website. At the bottom of the “Home” page there is a video of the sinner’s prayer which you can say right now.

God bless,
