New Prophecy for 2012

Despite the warnings in the Bible that no one knows the when the end will occur, dales teachers and false prophets continue to make predictions about the world’s end. The year 2012, according to these fatalists is another year in danger of catastrophe leading to the world’s destruction.

The Mayans predicted that 2012 would be a year of transition for the entire world. New Agers believe the world will experience a spiritual transformation and hat I will be destroyed when it collides with a celestial object such as a black hole, a comet, or a passing planet, Nibiru. According to the Mayan calendar, December 21, 2012 signifies the end of a 5125 year cycle which leads New Agers to believe the world will experience a spiritual transformation. The New Age Movement is a collection of theological beliefs whose foundations are not based on the Bible.

Jesus said in Matthew 24:36, 37 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” God had given Noah a warning that the flood was to occur and he commanded Noah to build an ark. When the flood came, no one but Noah’s family was prepared for it. This is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes. Only those who are in a close relationship to God will be told to go to a safe place and they will obey the voice of the Lord.

So many false prophets and teachers predicted the end of the world, but none of their claims came true. When God told Noah he was sending a flood, Noh did not go out and proclaim it to the world. Instead, he built an ark to protect his family in obedience to the word of God. When Christ comes, it will be a surprise to us all, as the flood was a surprise to the ancient Israelites.

Jesus goes on to state that, “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come,” and so you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him,” in verses 42 and 44, respectively. Therefore we will not know in advance of his coming and the people who do, will be prepared and not speak about the Lord’s coming. If we are in a relationship with God, he will lead us to a safe place, just like he led Noah to a safe place. Noah was accustomed to listening to the voice of God and because he found favor with God, God protected him.

For this reason, anyone who comes to us predicting the end of the world or the Second Coming of Christ was not sent from God and we should not believe him. Matthew 24:26 says, “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the desert, ‘do not go out , or ’Here he is, in the outer rooms,’ do not believe it.”

  1. Many people are writing books, selling DVDs and writing Blogs proclaiming exactly when the Lord will return. But we do not know when that will be yet. I agree, there are too many Believers hung up on predicting the end times and when our lord will return. all we can do is wake up each day with the mindset that today could be the day and hope for His return one day at a time. God bless you and keep you always. 🙂
