It is Easter again and the children at Crosspoint Church are going to participate in the Good Friday Easter service, No Greater Love. They will sing a song especially for Good Friday. The children have been working very diligently on their song and are looking forward to singing skillfully and joyfully for the Lord.
Worship is a great way for the children to learn reverence for the Lord. If they are on the rebellious side, they will not be for very long. The Holy Spirit will work with them and before you know it, they will be listening to the Lord and obeying him and any other person who has authority over them.
The Bible says in Ephesians 6:1-3 says, Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honour thy father and thy mother, which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” If children follow this commandment of the Lord to obey their parents, the Lord promises that they will have a good and long life.
Additionally, those who walk after the flesh will not be blessed. The works of the flesh are described in several places in the Bible, such as Galatians 5:19-21. Some children will not be able to understand some of these terms and some will be too young to hear about them. However, as soon as they are old enough, they should be made aware of the ramifications of their actions.
The Bible admonishes everyone to be “subject unto the higher powers” in Romans 13:1. This is in keeping with a God who expects us to obey him because he is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. He is the one and only true God. He puts people in authority over us.
When children understand and obey authority, they will have a better life and avoid going to jail because they refuse to respect authority. When they attend church services and sing in the choir, they learn about a powerful God who created them and cares for them and his Son who died for them on the cross.
