Abuse of Power

There are several verses in the Bible about injustices that occur and what God does about it.  It is a wonderful blessing when God comes to the defense of the poor and needy.  Poor and needy could refer to anyone who does not have power to defend themselves in the midst of those who are in authority.

Jesus, in teaching the parable of the sower, told the disciples that “For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested;  neither was anything kept secret, but that it should come abroad,”  Mark 4:22.  This certainly is the case in those instances that we have been hearing about lately in law enforcement.  It appears, “they did evil and called it good,” (Isaiah 2:17).

The victims and their families have wondered when this would all come to an end, when people would be treated fairly by their authority figures.    Society feels they have been waiting a long time for the tables to be turned upon those who abuse their power.  Romans 13: says, “But, if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain; for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.”

We have seen from these few examples that it may take some time, but God keeps his word.  In Thessalonians 4:6, the Bible says, “That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter:  because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.”

We, as Christians know what the Lord says about evil and we try to live according to the word.  But, those who live by the code of corruption, try to get away with things, until the rug is pulled out from under them.

It all comes down to this:  “He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.”  Psalm 72:4.  God loves his people and he will deliver them.  It is important that we pray for our children and our loved ones that they not fall into the hands of these corrupt individuals, because we cannot be everywhere with them.

  1. First of all I want to say great blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.
I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head before
writing. I have had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts
out. I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any
    ideas or tips? Kudos!

    • I would just focus on what is coming into your mind and start writing. It may lead to content for an article or a blog post. Often times you may be writing about three or more things that are on your mind. I recommend reading regularly to stimulate your mind and then you can express your thoughts about it. If nothing is there, write about your feeings. I started out writing a journal of my thoughts and problems each day. I began to see patterns and started expounding on some of the entries. Good luck!
