The Lord Speaks

Corn

It is refreshing to know that the Lord cares so much for us, and even though he does, he expects us to love him back. It is good to have a constant reminder of this because God created us to find him and have a relationship with him. If we take a look at Acts 17:24-26 we learn that:

“God made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth and dwelleth not in temples made of hands:” This means that we can have a relationship with him wherever we are. We do not have to go anywhere special to experience God. We will seek him and find him, when we seek him with all of our hearts,” Jeremiah 29:14. God is with us!

If we read Psalm 139:14 we learn that God’s works are marvelous.” This means that every bird, tree, and animal is marvelous, and so is man. That means you and me, and even Donald Trump! Yes, we are all marvelous. If we keep this thought in our minds, I think it may change some of our attitudes toward one another. Renewing the mind! That is all it takes. The closer we become to Jesus, the more we become like him.

We must love the Lord above everything else to avoid becoming idolatrous. “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Matthew 22:37. Our life show show evidence of our love for God. He must be on our minds, in our hearts, and consumed with him in our souls. We must put him first in everything, because we are here to glorify him.

Proverbs 11:26 says: “He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.” God does not want us to hoard things, because then it implies that we may love it more than we love God. We must be willing to let go of things. Some people may find it difficult to let go of things they hoard, but here is a verse which will help break this habit: Luke 6:38 “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” God rewards us for selling, giving, and sharing!

The consequences of living an idolatrous life is found in Romans 1:21-24: “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves.” This condition of the heart is rampant throughout the world and is growing in the United States and we need to repent and accept Jesus into our hearts, if we have not already.

Let this be our prayer:
“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23, 24
