The Lord commands us to “walk in the light as he is in the light,” I John 1:7. This means that everything we do must conform to the way that Jesus would have responded. The Lord gives us a measure of his light within us and he meets us where we are. When he gives us light, he speaks to us in a way that we will understand it. It is only intended for us. We cannot compare ourselves to what others are doing and say that this is right for us. It must conform to the heavenly vision that God gave us.
Too many Christians fail to seek that heavenly vision that God has especially for them. It takes prayer. God has said, “For I know the plans that I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a vision.” Jeremiah 29:11. Then he says, “If you call om me and come to pray to me then I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” This means that we must engage in fervent and persistent prayer to receive the answer. It may take several months to get the answer. But, know that God will not forget you. Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
The fulfilling of that vision will mean training and preparation to fulfill the vision according to God’s will. We should never lose hope because he wants us to be ready for the answer when it comes.
